Wednesday, March 20, 2019 – Karachi, PK // The third episode of Mastery Mornings took place in Karachi at Karachi School of Business and Leadership (KSBL) on Wednesday, March 20, 2019. The event was hosted by Learning Minds in association with KFC, Pakistan.
The session was especially arranged to celebrate International Day of Happiness and was aimed at bringing together senior leaders from diverse industries and promoting dialogue on this seemingly elusive emotion called Happiness.
The topic of the session was Happiness Workout and was facilitated by Sohail Zindani, Founder and CEO, Learning Minds. The event was attended by senior HR leaders from some of the leading organizations of Pakistan.
In his session, Sohail talked about how we’re in a habit of delaying happiness because many of us wait for the stars to align to do what we think we’re here to do.
Talking about how we can choose happiness in times of despair, he said, “We like dwelling on difficulties. A bad day is just a bad day. We should choose not to make it anything more. Take note of the setbacks and adjust to them but do not expand on them by making them a bigger part of your life.”
Talking about why most of us are not happy with ourselves, he said, “We’re in a habit of comparing our lives with those around us and feel that overwhelming dissatisfaction for our present circumstances.”
“We feel like we are not at the stage where we were meant to be, or we have somehow fallen behind in life. With social media exposing us to every nook and cranny of other people’s lives, it is hard not to notice and compare our journey to others.”
“Most of us wait for something to happen or someone to make us happy. When you leave your happiness in someone else’s hands or something, you’ll end up being dependent on them and when they leave you or when that thing ends, you’ll become empty”, he said.
Sohail ended his talk with a very powerful message. “If the outside world doesn’t happen your way, that’s okay but if your inner world doesn’t happen your way, that is something you should worry about.”
The talk was followed by hi-tea and networking.
